hello all, I got my first project the other day. A 1966 F100 with a 429 Cobra Jet, I think. That is what the guy told me i got it from.

So here is the info:

Block number is C9VE-B the Crank number is a 4U also with the number 15 16 on it. the heads have a casting # of DOVE-A. After looking at the form I think i have figure it to be a 429. can anyone confirm this form me. The engine has been bored .030 and i think the guy mess up when installing the bearings. The engine was knocking and the guy said oil presure was lost he shut it off and pulled the engine since then it has been sitting in the back of the truck.

We took the engine apart and the only problems that I found beside it being dirty and some rust on parts, was that the bearings on the crank had some groves in them, and the oil pump had an old zip tie that was broken up in it. There was no metal in the oil and the pistons and the wall were smooth ( no ridges on the walls of the block at all).

Anyhow, I looking for help in identifying the engine so that i can buy the right parts. any help would be appreciated

I utilized the information provided from other post but i'm still not sure what engine i have. As an educated guess i would say that it is the 429 thunderjet not a CJ.

So I thought that I would list all the number i could find one more time and see if I could get a definate answer. I can't order any part until I find out what it is. I'm new at this so I don't want to get the wrong parts, I need your help.

Head numbers -- DOVE-A

Crank number 4U
