Looking at putting a 460BB with C6 gearbox into my XY.
A side from engine mounts, any complications or other modifications needed.
Front suspension is stronger than normal anyway and current radiator is oversize with separate oil and trans coolers.
Regards
Ross

Physically, the motor will fit (Fords MD back in 1969 had a black XW with a 428(?) BB installed as a one-off - lucky bastard!).
But there will be bugger all room. Custom headers required, probably a bitch to get to the spark plugs as well. Relocate battery? And guaranteed to put a huge strain on the front end, so handling issues may need to be considered.
Seen one done, from memory we left the extractors laying in place, dropped the engine in and did them up later, as they were not going to go in afterwards.

use short case C6 and it will bolt up on factory mounts (last hole).
Pacemaker make engine mounts (gold)
Pacemaker make extractors too that hug the block the best.
You need better front springs or you will be on the bump stops (illegal).
Clacker type starter is best or mini starter (which will be shot in about 2 years).
Std V8 radiator will be OK (3 core)

I say the (duck egg blue) extractors by pacemaker will fit the XW and up because of their location relative to the block. The firewalls on the models all curve at about the same point. The blue extractors finish half way along the trans pan.
When I got the gold engine mounts I was sure they had XW-XF stamped on them. You still need the Fed Mogul rubber mounts on the block of course.

...... and don't give me a hard time about how dirty the engine bay is!!! The XY is my no-stress car. No maintenance, no breakages, never cleaned, but it still runs 11.8@118mph on pump fuel.
