460 Engine Code - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hey everbody, new to the forum. I just bought an 88 Notch with a 306 and Nitrous a few weeks ago. A deal came up from another friend who was selling a 460 and I just couldn't pass it up. I paid $750 for the 460, C6 tranny, Hooker competition longtubes to fit a Fox, a drive shift to fit a 460 into a notch, and the motorplate for the 460 to fit into a Fox. I am hopefully giong to stroke the block out to a 557 but it will take some time. Anyways, where is the engine code stamped in the block? I can see the heads are D3VE A2A heads but can't find the block code. The engine is pretty dirty and supposedly came out of a 76-77 F150. Any ideas?

The block casting number is located on the outside of the engine, behind the starter motor and reads vertically. If it is a 76-77 year model engine, then it is most likely a D1VE block.
