Can anyone tell me what years of Cr Vics had the 460 PI set up? Were they FI with serpentine belt set ups?

The 460 Police Interceptor engines were in the police cars of the mid-to-late 1970's. All were carburetted and had traditional v-belts.

Re: 460 PI set up

Did Ford pickups have 460s w/setrpentine set ups? What trans did they have? I have an idea to find a 460 w/serpentine belt, and an overdrive automatic trans to put in my 64 Galaxie. Presently the engine is tired, and the c6 leaks and needs attention. If this drive train was available in trucks, will it all work without a computer. I do not want that.

"Serpentine" defines a single belt accessory drive, so technically the Ford 460 never came with a serpentine belt setup. They have a Poly-Vee belt system and consisted of two belts. Many people refer to this as a the serpentine belt system.

I am not certain when the F250 started using this system, but I would surmise that they switched when they went fuel injection, which would be the 1988 model year, so look for 460s in 1988 and up F250's.

I think the automatics were the E4OD.

Re: 460 PI set up

Hello again! Is the E4OD any good as far as performance transmissions go? Do you have to run a computer to use them? Can you just take the FI off, and run a conventional intake and carb?

Re: 460 PI set up

The E4OD is the only overdrive that ford used with the 460 and it is computer controlled. The only other option I know off for overdrive on a 460 is a gear vendors unit which comes with it's own computer and attaches to your c6. You won't find a ford automatic transmission that will hold up as well as a well built c6 IMO.
