I have a 94 F350. I will be rebuilding the engine soon. I am wondering what head options I have. Will older carb heads work on a 94 fuel injected 460? What about CJ or SCJ/Aluminum heads? I want torque not HP Any suggestions for a cam?
The carb heads and intakes much be changed as a set, as the carb/fi intakes are not interchangable. Also, the exhaust ports are differnt as well, and so your exhaust manifolds will not fit correctly.
My advice would be to use the 1988-1991 460 FI pistons which have a shallower dish (than the 1992-up) and will bring you to about 9:1 compression ratio with your current F3TE heads, and get the heads ported by somebody that understands them. HP should increase about 60+hp or so, torque substantially more.
New to the site. I am buiding a 460 w/ OD outta a 1 ton van. putting in a 63 unicab 1/2 ton. Going to run the FI. I wonder about aftermarket al. heads and the difference in intakes between carb/FI? Also, any help on wiring? I removed every bit of the harness in the van. I want to try to adapt the dash, gauges, a/c, gas tank, etc. What about an O2? Don't remember there to be one on this motor.! thanks Scott
