Help a NooB!

Hello,
I recently aquired a 460.
I was wondeirng if any companies like edlebrock or holley offer a power package for this motor?
Also, I was thinking of putting this motor in an old 70 maverick possibly.
What are the most common installs for this motor?, vechicle wise? What tranny will be best for this setup? Mostly drag, some street.

Any adivice would be awesome!

Re: Help a NooB!

If you are setting it up for drags, you would be better off having one of your local shops help you out with a good engine combo. Edelbrock kits are geared more for mild street engines.

As far as getting a 460 in a Maverick, I would look into a Mustang II front suspension with front rollcage setup. This would make working on and installing that BBF very easy!

cool Re: Help a NooB!

MDP460,

Where are you located?

Probably your best bet is to determine what you want this car to do (QM time-wise), what you have to work with (engine-wise), and go from there.

It is possible, for example, to get an ol' Maverick into the 11's with factory 460 cast iron block, crank, and heads, on a single carb with gas. In fact, it's pretty damn easy & and even better times are possible.

Depends what you want to do...

Paul
