I HAVE A SET OF Nicson Hardin exhaust manifold 429 460 Ford jet boat MANIFOLDS I AM WONDERING IF I COULD USE THESE ON A RAT ROD TRUCK I AM BUILDING AND JUST WELD A ALUMINUM TURN DOWN TO THE ENDS OF THESE ? WHY OR WHY WOULDNT THEY WORK ? OTHER THAN THE OBVIOUS !! CAR BOAT THING !! UNDERSTAND WOULDNT BE A LOT OF BACKPRESSURE EITHER ! SO WHAT SAY YOU !
Those are water-jacketed manifolds. They preheat the cold lake water before it is sent to the water inlets at the front of the block. Do you intend to run your engine coolant through them? How would you plumb the system?
No I wasnt planning on running water through them at all ! Was just want to use them as headers or manifolds if you will. Didnt know if they would heat up hottter than regular header tube or manifolds dont see why they would . Just wanted to do somthing differnt with the truck thats all !
They are designed to run with water in them so the ex won't ignite fuel in the bilge. I suspect they might cook the carbon out of the metal & fail if run dry.
