I recently bought a 72 429 and Im having trouble deciding if its a base engine or if its a cobra jet.
Block: D1VE-6015-AA; I've been told this could be base or CJ.
Head: D2VE AA
Intake: D0VE- 4 barrel
Date: 1J15M
Partial vin: 2Z 526 911; believe this says 72 mustang. I could be wrong? 429s weren't an option for 72 I don't think.

The engine has 2 bolt mains and thin webs. Could someone tell me what it is or tell me how to find out?

Your description of the longblock very much describes a base model 429 passenger car engine.
