66 mustang "snow" option transmission

G'day all,
I just found out that my Mustang has the "snow" option trans. This is where it has 2 quadrants in the "drive" of the shifter. One makes the car take off in 2nd gear the other the normal drive.
Was this an option when new or common to all 66 mustangs ? Any info regarding this feature would be appreciated.
Thanks Ron

Re: 66 mustang "snow" option transmission

Not sure about the "Snow Option" but the '65/'66 C4, was known as the "Green Dot" C4 & has a different shift pattern to the '67/later C4's.

In '65/'66 it was something like this:
P - Park
R - Reverse
N - Nuetral
White Dot - Starts in 2nd, automatically shifts to 3rd
Green Dot - Starts in 1st, automatically shifts to 2nd and 3rd
L - holds first or second gear, whichever you're in, when you pull the shifter down. Will not automatically upshift, but can downshift.

Re: 66 mustang "snow" option transmission

Thanks yet again. This is exactly what I've found with the auto.I was told it was the "snow" option.Sounds crazy to me though. They had some weird ideas back then but at least they got the styling right !
