Mustang 69 351W rebuilt with approx. 2000 miles. Looking for bolt on performance components. Already have MSD ignition, Edelbrock performer intake, 570CFM Holly Avenger 4 bl, and headers. Would like to add Comp hydra roller cam with roller lifters, Edelbrock heads, Roller rockers, and harden push rods. Heads will support .575 lift. Cam will max at .533.
Appreciate any suggestions based on your experience with a 351W buildup.....Thanks...
Wow you have most bases covered or are going to cover them. What else could you do to the motor. That car must MOVE as it is now.
Someday I will get another Stang!!!
Man, I would have to agree you seem to have everything covered. Of course it probably would help if a windsor guru would post some advice. But, all in all, I can't think of anything you have missed. Just make sure the car can handle the power you want to give it.
this most definitely is a good list of mods for your car.
i was thinking of going with some ford motorsports gt40 heads on my 289. i've already got a edelbrock performer intake, holley 4150 carb (650cfm), tri-y headers and a unknown cam (previous owner). i do plan on roller rockers and a cam similar to yours.
Either the 351W or 302 will fit. You will get as many pros and cons for either as to why that engine is better. Without knowing more details about your project I can't really make very many constructive comments...
Have fun....

I'm building a hot 289, and I plan on building it with a solid-lifter cam, edelbrock intakes, and 69' 351 heads. I recently read an article that stated by using oversize valves on a 69' 351 head, and a little port work...it flows as well or better than a new box stock set of aluminum edelbrock heads.

Thanks for the information. There is a person in our mustang club that did what you are doing and is very happy with the results. I think by the time you spend money to modify the heads along with the cost of good valve train component you may end up with the same cost. Also consider the wait of the older heads vs. aluminum. Have fun....
hi guys...i'm a newby on this board, but heres my input on the 351w...my wife has a 67 stang fastback that is a street and bracket car...to make a long story short i chose to bore and stroke...i took it out to a 408 cubic inch...bottom end...i had a 2 bolt converted to a 4 bolt...dont be misunderstood, that was a major over taking and very exspensive...i had the deck squared at 45 degrees at 2 diferant angles...number 2, 3, and 4 main cap i had custom made from 2810 cold rolled steel and splayed at 0.20
i debured the whole block myself and and polished where needed...i don't beleive in painting the valleys...paint can chip...i had the valley retrofited to accept a mechanical roller system...bored it 0.30 and painted the outside sail blue...i had a custom made steel billet crank and a ultra dyne steel billet cam...i chose je pistons and rings, carillo rods, clevite 77's for the mains and rods...t/f twisted wedgies, bowl ported only...(out of the box they will hold 580 hp)...victor jr. intake (port matched), a demon 850 double pumper and a msd mechaical distributor system...my build finished out on the dyno at 525 horse pwer with 510 ft/lbs of torque...your probally thinking so what thats not that much for a windsor...but i saved the best for last guys...IT RUNS ON 93 PUMP GAS...it would not be feesable to run it on the street if you had to run racing or aviation fuel...the car is all glass...hood,doors 1/4 panels, trunk, splash guards, buckets...whatever was offfered in fiberglas is on the car...c-4 is all redone as the susspension also...she runs very low 10's 10:05 10.06 in a 1/4...i also put a stage 4 bottle on it in case she wants to jump in a quick rod class the she can spray it and grab another 5 or 6 tence...but her low 10's is with no spray...this is why i chose to build the bottom end bullit proof...my wife is a speed freak like myself...she is very young...back in 1983 i was doing low 6's in a alkie blown dragster...in matter of fact that motor is 4 sale right now...it has 3 diferant drives for it...i ran a 50 % over drive on it...right now we our designing a 220 in rear engine dragster with a 351 w (ready for this now) stroked to a 454 with twin turbochargers on it...(the days of the big heavey iron are gone)she should run a high 6 to a low 7 in a 1/4...my wife cant wait...wells guys nice to share with you... migraine
