My dad and I are restoring a 66 GT 350 right now and it is still unclear of if it is real or not. It has probably 90% of the original Shelby things, but we have checked the Ford vin number and it shows the car as being an A code car, supposed to be K code as you already know. Does anybody know of any other places on the car to check for other type numbers.
Oh, and if anyone knows of why some of the GT 350's have the antenna at the rear of the car, please explain this to me. Thanks guys!

The car should have a Shelby American VIN plate riveted over the Ford VIN on the LHS inner fender.

My antenna is on the right rear because I put it there after seeing one in a car mag.I think all were on the right front from factory.

Thunderboltkid, to my knowledge all 66 GT350 from Shelby American are "K" code cars and their antenna is on the RH side.

The Official SAAC Forum - Index ask Kopec and the experts. As many of these cars were raced hard it possible it was a rebody. Rust issues could have been the culprit as well. Or it's just a nice clone. Art is correct on the K code info. The SAAC guys would know the history with the Shelby VIN. Also know how to tell the real Shelby parts from the repops. I have a copy of the first 1982 Shelby registry if you need some quick info on anything. But I'd get with the SAAC guys for positive ID info. No offense to anyone here.
