eek Mo-PO 289?

What is the best way to get reliable, driveable power out of a 1965; 289? I want to have a daily driver with more power... doesn't eveyone?

Welcome to the forums!

The steps are usually (in order of ease & cost) intake, exhaust, cam, head. So start with the filter, carby & manifold, extractors & exhaust system before you start opening her up.

Also what car is it in, and more importantly what has the motor got now? Where are you located, might help people direct you to local sources of parts/info/help.

I live in Northern Idaho. I just bought the car a couple of days ago and it runs great, except for that pesky power steering pressure line that I just busted! It is a 1965 Ford Mustang with a stock 289 v-8. I ordered Edlebrock Performer carb. 600cfm, and a Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake Manifold! Putting them on next week with a K&N.
