please help! tranny swap problems

I have a 1968 Galaxie XL fast back I built a 429 and a c6 for it and now i'm wanting a 4speed. I was told that someone makes a AOD that will fit my 429 but I can't find it, so I'm looking at the E4OD i've found a shift kit for it but need help, does anyone know how to use an electronic trans in an early model car? I need all the help I can get. Is there a stand alone computer or controller I can use? Also having a hard time finding an aftermarket shifter for it. I'm sorry about posting in the mustang section but i not getting much feedback anywhere else

AOD,

look for a 1983-84 F-series truck with a 460 in it.

Re: please help! tranny swap problems

I've heard of a couple of US firms making kits to adapt AOD's to Lima engines-here's a link to one of them-Ford 429/460 At least in USA models, Ford never put an AOD behind any engine that did not have a "small block" bellhousing bolt pattern. 460 trucks got either C6's or E4OD's.
Baumann makes a standalone controller that will help mate an E4OD to your car. Electronic Performance Products -- Baumann Electronic Controls, LLC
I like AOD's but for your torquey big block engine in a fairly heavy car, I'm pretty sure the E4OD is a much better choice.
