Hows it going im new to the forums and new to my thunderbird. Love the way it looks and cant wait to get this bird back on the road! Never had a v8 before and this 390 moves even if it has a lil knock, or something loose? well yeah a project she is and cant wait to tear the engine apart when i know for sure it needs it.


So what i need help with is that the shifter on the steering column broke and its stuck in drive. I need help find the steering column in LA or even shipped to LA. Ooh and what other car steering column will fit? Dont really care if it has the tilt for now just want to be able to move it around for now. Please let me know im stuck and dont know where to look for this part. Thanks for your time and any advice would be GREAT!

Moved to correct section. Finding a column will be tough. 67 was the first year of the 67-69 generation, with a different set of columns then the previous 64-66 generation. Further complicating things was that they were changed again in 68 to a colapsing column, and they will not work in a 67. Contact John Draxler at the T-Bird Ranch in Wisconsin, he might have one, or give you suggestions on how to fix yours. Best if you have the tilt-away column to stay with it. Converting to the swing-away column would be more complicated and expensive. Is the lever itself stuck or does it move without changing gears??? Is the coulmn locked in the drive position??? I'm not totally familiar with the tilt-away system but if it isn't lock correctly in the drive position it could cause problems.
