Re: F100 and P plates

i'd say so, given the weight. If not, just get some "302" badges.

Re: F100 and P plates

Yes, you can drive an F100 that has a 351 on your P's. They are miles under the maximum power to weight ratio limit set by Vic roads.

Re: F100 and P plates

the weight is certainly under the legal limit, but if an F100 with a 5.8L is listed in the restricted vehicles at vic roads than it is deemed illegal. I'll bet it is illegal, as my XC with a 351 is restricted even though it is legal based on power to weight. Best to check with Vic Roads!

Re: F100 and P plates

Also How rare are the 1978 F100's in Australia?

Re: F100 and P plates

Not incredibly rare - were quite a popular truck. Still worth very good money though, especially stylesides in decent nick...

Re: F100 and P plates

We got $8.000 quoted on our 1978 f100. What about parts though, because we have had a lot of trouble finding parts for ours.

Re: F100 and P plates

I had a 76 with a very strong 460 in it. went like the powers but I couldnt stop the bloody thing! and parts for f100's are super pricey, i spent over $1000 on parts alone to replace the brake system on my 85 ambo, then had to get the diff done! $650 now I'm waiting for the 351 or auto to drop their guts lol

Re: F100 and P plates

Parts can be expensive - at least the motors and gearboxes are bulletproof and common (351/c6 usually). Don't break a headlight, grille or anything in the interior. Replacement costs are painful... although I have found a good F-100 wrecker in Brisbane (only a couple of years after I blew mine up too! )
