the weight is certainly under the legal limit, but if an F100 with a 5.8L is listed in the restricted vehicles at vic roads than it is deemed illegal. I'll bet it is illegal, as my XC with a 351 is restricted even though it is legal based on power to weight. Best to check with Vic Roads!
I had a 76 with a very strong 460 in it. went like the powers but I couldnt stop the bloody thing! and parts for f100's are super pricey, i spent over $1000 on parts alone to replace the brake system on my 85 ambo, then had to get the diff done! $650 now I'm waiting for the 351 or auto to drop their guts lol
Parts can be expensive - at least the motors and gearboxes are bulletproof and common (351/c6 usually). Don't break a headlight, grille or anything in the interior. Replacement costs are painful... although I have found a good F-100 wrecker in Brisbane (only a couple of years after I blew mine up too! )
