I have a '73 Ranger and I'm thinking about getting an extended gas tank that goes under the bed between the frame. Is there a mod I can do to the fill line so I can actually open up the gas pump when filling? I had an '87 with dual tanks that used to do the same thing on the rear tank and drove '93 for work... same situation.

You'd think Ford would've come up with an answer to that by then.

Had a 91 F150 that had dual tanks too.

I would think you would want to take parts from a Ford truck that had dual tanks, just be careful, when I filled both of them, and then ran the back one first, the return line went to the front tank, and made it over flow out the gas cap. I just never filled the front tank all the way, but there might be a recall on that, and a fix.

The Ranger has a single tank in the rear, I just noticed that the rear tanks on the dual tank setups did the same thing years later. Just wondering if there's a mod for the goose neck or is it just slow pumping due to proximity. It either clicks off quickly or splashes out, or both unless I throttle the pump real slow. It's frustrating enough to fill a tank when it goes quickly, but when you have to agonizingly watch the $$ go so much faster than the gallons... that's just cruel.
