After searching the forums I have not been able to find any one with the same problem, who knows maybe I am using the wrong key words. Anyway I have a 2000 Eddie Bower Explorer. The problem is the LR door is stuck in the closed position. As I have not been home for a while I was told that my boys slammed it and they think that the child lock was in the mid position. I plan on removing the door panel (well as much as I can get out) to get to the locking mechanism.

My question is, has anyone else ran into this problem and if so, how did you get it open?

Probably a failed latch (to much plastic in the cars these days)and not an easy thing to get open. Just to check if the 'child lock' 1/2 way could be the problem, Open the other rear door, flip child lock 1/2 way, and put the latch in the closed position by using a screwdriver, then keeping pressure on the latch (as if the door was closed and had slight pressure against it) and ppull inside or outside handle and see if it releases.
After checking this....
Don't shut the door till you are sure the latch is fully released!

Most likely the latch is screwed up or maybe the lock actuator is stuck in the lock position. Either way, you will need to remove the panel.
