2 paint questions..advice needed

Hi,

as the subject says I have 2 paint related issues.

1) I have an black AUIIXR8 that has some paint crazing on the bonnett. I took it back to the dealer to have a look and suprise suprise it is of course either bird poo or tree sap and could not be a paint defect. I though poo or sap etc would cause dullness etc and not that crazed/cracked look on the finish. Are they right or trying to fob me off and more importantly how can I prove this?

2) Have an Artic silver Au that has had bad luck and has been backed into and rear ended on 2 occasions. Has been repaired at 2 different locations and now has 3 different shades of silver on the car and is really obvious looking from the rear as the boot has been untouched.

Shouldn't these guys match the colour to the paint on the car not just from the colour chart/codes given by ford. I don't think it's good enough but again how to go about fixing it?

What are the chances of getting a full re-spray on the car?

Sorry about the long post and would really appreciate some info and tips from those who are in the trade (insurance or panel beating)

Re: 2 paint questions..advice needed

If these reqpairs were done under insurance, the insurance companies these days offer lifetime warranty on repairs - contact them in the first place, and they will assess the repairs etc.

Some reputable panel shops also offer some sort of warranty - when we got the XR fixed, I took it back once to have a similar issue sorted out. They were more than happy to fix it.

As for the crazing - get a panel beater to tell you why it's happened - then if it's not bird poo or sap, go back to ford.

Yep,

they were all done under insurance but wondering if the first place to take it is the repairer or the insurance company.

Repairer First, then let insurance know.
