Im trying to reserect my landau or most of it any way ,i have a rear beaver panel and the small panel that runs along the boot to hold the rubber in .The roof has been removed previous and there are a few small 20 cent size rust holes , now a few had been repaired by previous owner, itseems like a soft steel some thing like lead .You can scape it but its still resonably hard does any one know what it is and where to get it.I am attempting my first rust repairs so i may be in the same boat as go the ford.Thanks chris.

Dunno what it is, but I wouldnt use it.

If you try to paint over it, the paint will most likely craze due to the malliability.

It may actually be Lead.'Leadwiping' I think is the term for this?? It is very hard to do and is very rarely used these day's,except by old timers or specialists mostly!! Body Filler and Fiberglass have seemed to have superseeded it !!!

Ok thanks i may need spell proofing also . I just read the post i put in last night , may be i should write before work when im awake!!!! The roof had rust repairs by pevious owner not removed (duh) and you can scape it ,like to see that. Thanks any way fellas. CHRIS. spellmaster.

I noticed the 'roof has been removed' part,and at first thought the roof had been cut off...but then I thought maybe you mean't that the Vinyl had been removed from a Vinyl Roof to repair rust underneath it ???

Yea the plate that has been put in the rear side windows ,has slight rust around it.

yes it would be lead wiped. i don't think lead wiping is all that hard to do it just that if you play with lead for too long it will kill you! my landau had steel infill panel around windows too but some of them had fiberglass panels i'm told. nearly all 30 year old cars have lead wiped repairs done to them way back when it was the only way

drag a coin over it , does it tack a brigh shave off ?
sounds like lead.. was done well and correctly by thre sound of it , just etch prime and apint .
