Has anyone got those black specks on their paint from the soft tonneau?
It is only on the back of the ute down the tailgate, a result (I suspect) of water running off the back when you drive off. They can't be seen when standing back, but I know they're there and many of these specks don't come off! Does anyone know of this problem?

Yes have exactly the same black specks but didn't realise they came from the tonneau cover to be honest, I thought they were from the exhaust because they are only on the tailgate, have had them on my last 2 au utes, they are a pain to get rid of as it sticks like sh!t to a blanket and I find I have to use a car wax to get rid of them, if there is any way of stopping it happening would be pleased to hear about it.

Ditto, I thought they were brake dust...
Even after a wash and chamos... that black sh!t is still stuck fast.
Yep I have it too and every ute I have owned has had it. I think it's from the exhaust. Polish is the only way I have found to remove it. I don't worry about it to much.
I just assumed it would be the tonneau because the marks are only on the back and seem to be more concentrated on the top of the rear bar... like the water runs over the back and then sits there longer.
Some other good theories though.
Got the same prob. Sticks like mad and if you really try to wipe if off it smears and still sticks. Again it wouldn't be the cover in my opinion.
Given that Toolman doesn't seem to keep covers on his ute for very long , exhaust seems more likely.
And by the look of the cracking in the rubber seals after 2 months, I think number 6 or an extensive repair to number 5 is not far away. (note this cover has never been washed).

Tool, try putting your dog under the cover ... instead of on top....
