hey guys,

I drove past a dark blue commodore the other week (VT or VX) and it had chrome door handles on the exterior! I have never seen this before, but it looked hot! It didnt look as though they had been painted, but real chrome.

has anyone heard of these, or know where to get some??

sounds nice i rekon! but how would you chrome plastic? i thought chrome plating was done in this acid- like stuff which would melt plastic. awell i dunno

I haven't actually seen them on Commos but I've seen them on quite a few Statesmans. Maybe they have the same handles as each other and hence interchangeable??

yeah I wouldnt imagine it would look good, but after seeing it look, it looks really good and classy, not ricey at all!

theyd be plastic chrome, heaps of places do it to any sort of plastic, not sure on costs though, but I cant imagine it looking too great myself

They came off a Calias or Statesman...thats why they were chrome.

The WH and onwards Caprice is the only model to have chrome handles.

But rumour has it that it is possible to get a chrome spray which yields good results. Might also be the solution for those of us with dodgy plastic chrome strips on our cars.

Yeah I am interested in doing it, after seeing it on a car. I must admit, if someone told me about it I would cringe, but it looked hot!

unfortunately at the momment, I cant afford to have it done, then buy replacement handles if it looks like sh!t

Chrome paint...... lol

Plasic can be chromed, has to be painted with a metallic paint first. I was going to do my handles but I buggered one pulling it apart, and the bloody thing is colour coded.
