confused cleaning up inner door surface rust

I've got some surface rust on the inside of my 1970 Galaxie door panels and I was wondering what is the best thing to do after sanding it back. I was thinking of spraying on some zinc rich primer but I'm not sure if this is enough.

Any advice would greatly appreciated.
Thank you

If you are sure its clean and rust free then etch prime and apply a good sealer , talk to your paint guy .

Re: cleaning up inner door surface rust

Go back to bare, get as much as you can off, and apply either.
Deoxidene or
Wurth rust converter.

Whichever you use, FOLLOW the instructions.

I do not reccomend POR-15, based on personal experience.

Cheers

I would clean up the lossed stuff with a wire brush, then treat with Fertan Rust convertor or similiar, then generously coat with Fisholene.

thanks for the replies, I might even try each method on a different door as a bit of an experiment!

Re: cleaning up inner door surface rust

G'day,
if the car has not been painted yet.....do NOT use fisholene.

fisholene is a silicone and will only give your painter headaches...like armour-all

Just reading back on your original post, i am not convinced on zinc primers either, due to the many things said about oxidisation between dis-similar metals, esp zinc and iron based.

Cheers
Jas
