I sanded back and primed a door ,changing it from manual to eletric and found that the catch had the top screw and the bit of plate it was scewed through has torn a small area free . I cant weld so what is the easiest way to fix it? thanks chris.
Its a common problem with coupe doors, its usuually caused by misalignment.
The only way to repair correctly is to have a gusset plate welded to the raer of the lock area to strengthen door.
You could always cover with filler but it will continue to crack.

thanks guys ,the gusset plate sounds like the go ,besides this problem the door is completly rust and ding free .I have a landau im trying to restore on a very limited buget so getting another door is not an option.Is a gusset plate have to be made or can you buy them?This is my first body resto ,i cant even weld( i can hear you laughing) im going to teach my self (i hope). Previously doing something up for me was putting in larger motors or rebuilding them.Thanks chris.
