Hmm, while battling with a recalcitrant fuel filter, I noticed that there seems to be some rust developing in the sills, just behind the front wheel arches ( i.e. roughly near the jack point, on the vertical section behind the sill). It seems to be on both sides (drivers and passenger)

I haven't had the chance to explore too far yet (I'm scared :( ), but has anyone else noticed rust in this area on the EL?

If i were you get some rust converter and spray it on like alot till most of it is gone and sand it down then spray it up dont leave it like that to long unless you want a house were rats can live in :) our ea had some on the drivers side only surface so i got rid of the rust and sprayed primer and body deadner everywere coz the damm thing was all in undercoat underneath.

I have only ever done 1 rust repair on an EL and it was in the sills, it had a gapping hole, it seemed to be rusted the entire lenght of the sill on the inside after I cut it out.

does it seem like the rust is coming from the inside or is it just surface rust?

I have this horrible suspicion (and fear) its from the inside. It doesn't really look like surface stuff . . .

get it looked at/treated asap...

The bottoms of the front guards in my XF are virtually gone due to the rust...and its not getting any better :-(
