Hi all,

During the WA round of the V8 Supercar racing I got Dick Johnson to sign the engine cover of my EL V8. It already had a coating of blue heatproof paint and Dick signed it with a silver Artline maker.

Does anyone know of a clear 'heat proof' coating product I could spray over it, or should it be ok as is ? I am thinking that the heat generated from the motor will fade the signature.

Any sensible advice appreciated.

hey,

there is some clear heat proof engine paint for sale, and I would definately use it, far better to be safe then sorry! I think VHT make one?? but its not real easy to get...

um im not to sure about a clear oat..although im sure there is something out there...

by the way..i was thinking of painting my engine cover (or rocket cover, is that what there called?, im not to sure)....yeah so what is a good brand of paint and how many other people have done this??

The rocker covers are different from the engine cover. The rocker cover, is used to cover over the internal engine bits (technical description) it is attatched to the actual engine, where as the engine cover is just a piece of moulded metal that sits on top of the engine (not part of) to make the engine bay look good. The I6's don't have engine covers ony the V8 models.
