i have seen an XR8 and a few commos that have have metallic paint that changes colour when looked at from different angles.

so far i have seen:
gold/green/purple,
gold/purple
gold/red

this looks really sweet.

i was wondering if anyone here knows what this paint is called, what different combinations are called and any sites that have info about it.

Its called Pearl
I don't know if its spelt any different.
I *think* it is done by adding a 'pearl layer' on top of your existing paint colour. Don't quote me on that.

there is also a paint used called chameoleon (probably spelt wrong)
it costs a shitload ive heard up to 1000$ a litre but its awesome. there is a VK commodore with a purple and green job and it looks sick. (the paint not the car)
i had a pearl on my mini and it was white and went purple in the sun but the chameoleon paint is way way more effective.

The chameleon paint is from PPG ... and it DOES cost about 1grand per litre.

two tone? Wtf? I think ure actually thinking of 2 pac paint... and that has nothing to do with multicoured paint that changes on angles and in different light... Its chameleon or PPG harlequin paint.

It's called pearl. You would be better off spraying it in 2 pack, however it is also available in Acrylic.

There are a number of methods in which the paint can be applied, which determines how the finished product turns out.

You will firstly need a basecoat color, which is the actual color of the car, however, metalic in the basecoat will have a negative effect on the pearl coat.
You will then need to spray the pearl layers, adding more coats for an increased effect, and then a clear coat.
I used this method on my audio installation panels. The paint is purple in normal light, and green in sun light.

It costs probably about $100 extra on top of a normal re-spray, however, it comes with it's dis-advantages.

Yeah all those colours are made from PPG, like as said Chameleon, Harlequin, Wildfire, they're just different colours, like wildfire is more orange/purple, and Chameleon is bluey/green/purple, etc

its not only made by PPG, and BASS_CRASY ur think of different shit, this stuff changed colour wif the different angel u look at it from, awesome stuff to look at, and btw, the cheap stuff of it is $1000 a lt, when u get into the top quality shit its like $2000 to $3000 a lt.. wouldn't wanna **** up would ya.
