Paint Damage

Recently a few friends of mine played a joke on another mate. He owns a stock XF with a 2.5in exhaust. It'd been resprayed not long before he bought it so the paint is in good nick except for a few imperfections. He's completely over obsessed with it and reckons it'll beat anything that comes up against (once again, STOCK Carby 4.1). Anyway, my mates wrote stuff on his car with shaving cream while he was at work. He spotted it and cleaned it off less than 15mins after it happened. Now he reckons the paint is bubbling in a small spot where the shaving cream was. I personally think he's a wank for thinking shaving cream would bubble paint especially in less than 15mins. I personally am more inclined to think it's rust.

I will accept being proven wrong if anyone can provide evidence. But if you can spill fuel etc (not prolonged) on a car and not damage the paint how the F**K would shaving cream do it???

To give you an idea of how much of an idiot this guy is, he now plans to take his friends to court over a paint bubble, that I doubt very much was even caused by the incident and make them pay for a FULL respray. Now the bit that make me really laugh, he wants it sprayed from white to silver, somehow I think the magistrate would personally tell him that he's a dick.

What do you guys reckon??

I reckon your ****ed on in court :)

Shaving cream strips paint away very nicely. Everyone knows it does. Apart from brake fluid (instant strip) the next best prank to use is shaving cream.

Have fun in court

wasnt sure if south was being serious or not but after doing a search on google it would seem that shaving cream really is a fantastic paint stripper.
i hope they had a good enough laugh to warrant the amount it will cost to get the car or damaged sectioned resprayed :)

Must be the beard softener additive :)

and the immortal words of Jagger in Sister Morphine - "and why does the doctor have no face" - evidently too much shaving cream!

Is the paint bubbling EVERYWHERE the shaving cream was or is it in just one spot?

If its just like a small spot on the bonnet etc only, then at worst, your friend may be asked to pay for half the cost of repainting the effected panel, if that.
There is no way in hell the magistrate will make him pay for a complete repaint, letalone a different colour, if its only damaged in one particular area.

BUT If the whole paintwork has this bubbling on it, then the magistrate may ask for a complete repaint, but not in a different colour.

Thats if you friend pleads guilty to actually doing it....If he doesnt admit to doing it and there is no proof, all the XF owner is going to be getting is court fees.

The courts don't need this crap clogging them up.

Take it behind the change sheds and work it out

What's the country coming to. Mates taking mates to court.

By the sound of things you guys don't sound like very good friends to begin with. I think the least the guys should do is pay to have the panel re sprayed.
On the other hand, if it were me, and it was done by people I didn't conceder to be good friends (as above), even though good mates wouldn't do that, I would make you pay for a full re spray if I was pissed off enough.

Maybe he isnt the tosser but all of his so called mates are, I hate people that dont respect other peoples possesions, they are just scumm imo.
I would say that your mates are screwed, if the shaving cream was applied to nearly every panel and was showing signs of bubbling then it would nearly need to be completly resprayed, not just a lick of colour either the panel would have to be stripped down to bare metal where the shaving cream was put on.

Another thing to watch out for is sap from trees, especially a particular type of gum tree, we had to respray the bonnent, roof and boot of a brand new camry last year, it had only just arrived at the dealer and they left it sitting under a gum tree in the stinking hot heat.

RESPECT OTHER PEOPLES BELONGINGS AS IF THEY WERE YOUR OWN!
