Hi Folks,

like many others, i have a few scratches in my car, some quite big since I removed my mudflaps the other day.

I've got a plain white AU2 ute, and was wondering if it was possible to buy a tin of the standard colour paint from the VIN plate, and a small air brush, fill with said paint and touch up the scratches?

I've seen some of the mess that can come from those little brushes from the touchup paints, id rather avoid it.

You can buy touch up paint in a spray can. i've seen some reasonable results with that.

is that original ford paint in a spray can? or an aftermarket look a like?

Aftermarket in a spray can; although a while back, I remember seeing an aerosol paint where you could mix your own, and use the pressure pack as a propellant to spray whatever mix you wanted.

White should be easy enough to match. Have you had a quote to get it done professionally??

i can get it done professionally, but its a pain the ass to orgainze it during the day as im mostly tied to a desk for 9 hours 5 days a week, id rather try and do it myself after hours when ive got time.

If your keen for a good result then honestly id say get it done profesionaly. you can actualy get someone over to your house that will do it on the spot. my mum has a 99 honda civic (also white) and we got someone over to fix various scratches on the car. Worked out pretty cheap and also a great result, i think it worked out to be around $190 which isnt bad at all.
anyway tell us how you go. ring around and get a few quotes and see how low you can get the price

yes please let us know, im watching with interest, as ive got a fiar few small scratches on mine...
