I have a 1993 EB falcon which i want to paint the bumper bars on..I want to paint black over the grey plastic.. can anyone suggest the best way to do it in terms of preparation? should i use an undercoat or any particular paint etc?

Yep you'll have to get a special plastic primer otherwise it tends to peel off easily.

clean them REALLY REALLY REALLY well, iwth prepsol or whatever... then with plastic primer, a few coats, and then your paint..... you mgiht have to go over with clear to get a shiny effect if it aint shiny enough... but make sure its soo clean, that you can eat off it

Even before you use the plastic primer spray a coat or two of adhesive promoter.. it is a clear finish and will hold all the other paint to the bar forever

I usually just use K+H Bumper Black, $13.50 from Supercrap. No primer, just clean it up and spray it on. Has the added benefit of being really useful for touching up inside the car as well :) I usually get a few years out of it on heavy wear areas like door handles etc., other bits are 5 years old and still have the original paint on them.
