Painting mirrors and back of car

I am taking my car into body repairers to get a dint fixed on the 8th and I am also thinking of buying some ED mirrors and getting them painted monza red as with the body colour, and also getting the rear panels of the car painted between the lights which is a grey and black colour as with all eas ive seen. What do you guys think it is good idea?
Also the ED electric mirrors are only $102 each whereas the EAII electric mirrors are like $250 for left and $350 for right, I think this is maybe because there werent many electric ones made ?

Ahhhm

Dude, personally i think that the back panel when painted
looks shit. Kinda like a tryhard commie owner...
If I were you id get an EB panel from the wreckers and throw it on. The mirrors would look cool tho :)

Mirrors and rear garnish

Just put the ED mirrors on mine 4 months back and it looks smick - part of this is due to them being painted. Even if you leave the EA ones on - paint them. With the ED mirrors - it has a 3 pin/wires connector whereas the EA uses 4. No need to change anything - it plugs straight in and works just fine.

As for the rear of the car - I painted mine a nice low satin black to cover up the fading crappy grey/black and against the white it looks smick. Makes the tailights appear one nice solid section. This may change on other EA's though because mine is a ghia which has the better rear section to begin with. I'd personally say paint it black though. Body coloured rear sections on the Ea look pretty 'plasticy' to me. Personal opinion though.

My 2c,

M.....

Re: re: do this etc.

I'm so thankful that my EA has the Ghia rear garnish in place of the crappy grey GL one, it makes the rear look soo much better. As for the mirrors, mine are colour coded as well. It looks great.

I tend to agree that the rear boot garnish doesn't look great when colour coded with the rest of the car. I'm only going by the ones i've seen. It probably could look alright depending on the colour of the car and whether it blends in. But personally I'd recommend going for a Ghia or EB garnish.

Re: re: do this etc.

i colour coded mine burgundy like the car..didnt like it..then did it all gloss black.. didnt like that either... so then i left the top part gloss black and did the bottom matt black..looks really really good..abit like the two tone on the genuine fairmonts... there is a pik of it in the picturers section under ea's..looks really good i reckon
