confused Swirl marks in Black Paint

Hi

My Black GTP with Silver Stripes should arrive this week!!!!

YAHOOO!!!!!

But:

I've got a Black XR6, and there seems to be nothing I can do about getting swirl marks in the black paint.

I don't want this to happen to my new GTP.

Any thoughts?

Here's how I wash it:

1. Hose entire car.
2. Use "shaggy" sponge with Maguires Pink Car Shampoo.
3. Hose off car.
4. Use Kenobi Chamois to dry off car.

Help!

Re: Swirl marks in Black Paint

Well That's really asking the impossible,Black will alway's have some sort off paint plemishes the more you wash it,alway's wash in the shade,I use one off those Mequir's woolmitt(lambswool) glove's( just wash from top to bottom and alway's rinse thouroughly) then use a synthetic chamois(Enki) and dont spend to much time here, the more you chamois the more you can mark the paint(this is with everything)and polish and wax every 6 month's or so with a good polish,I do the above on my Galaxy Blue AU and it has the odd mark's that you just cant stop but it still look's smik, some thing's you just cant avoid.

...alternatively, grab your wifes best hand towels, lottsa McG's or Mothers in a bucket, cold car, rinse as much dirt as possible with a hose, then start on top, wash all horizontal surfaces, then top of sides to door bash rail, then lower panels, lastly around wheel arches. Rinse as you go, before water dries. Then when finished (this is the fun part), hose all over, then hit the road - motorway is good. Drive her til shes a dry. Last step, hand towels in the washing machine. Wife will never know.

Re: Swirl marks in Black Paint

Can't go past McG's. I used the "wet look" finish afterwards.

Car is like a permanent mirror.

Spending $50 to $80 on these things afterwards is chicken feed.

Re: Swirl marks in Black Paint

To help aviod swirl marks instead of wiping in circles wipe in straight lines this will still leave fine scratches but they will be straight and aren't as noticable as the swirl marks.

Re: Swirl marks in Black Paint

Use a good polish and foam pad and you should be able to polish them out.
Its best to use 100% cotton terry cloth, the deeper the pile the better, when washing or polishing.
