What clear should i use ?

Hi all

Ok i just got my performer manifold and what to cover it in like a clear coat so it keeps its alloy look, what sought of clear should i use?, is there a special clear for alloy or can i just use some of the acrylic top coat clear i have here.

Or is there a better way to go.

Thanks all

Ben

Re: What clear should i use ?

personally i would not paint it at all.

you would be better off just to keep it clean with some good degreaser or something .

once you paint it , then when the coating stuffs up from the heat and fuel etc , you will need to get it sand blasted to get it off.

i have had my performer for 20 years and it still looks good.
i use truck wash - ct18 or koala care- and hose it down when it needs it . if it has gotten stained from fuel or oil, etc i will use degreaser.
one thing you need to do is to dry up all the waster left behind before it dries as this will make the alloy go white if left . an old chamois is good for this.

no worries mate. put a plastic bag over your carby and electricals and give it a good hosing .

just remember to dry off the water after.

best to do it while the engine is not too hot as well.
