I bought an XY recently, and I wanted to just replace the front quarters, and spray them the same colour of the car. I don't wanna stuff around too much, i just wanted to undercoat it and top coat it. The colour is that metallic gold, and I was wondering if I had to clear coat it. What is the reason your supposed to clear coat metallic paints because I really would rather just leave it? Thanks?

because metallic basecoat is flat (not shiny)
The yanks have some one shot metallics now and they are rubbish!

I see, well this will just to do a couple of quick jobs, so if I'm not so much chasing shine, I can leave that part out yeah, considering I'm not too fussed. Yeah?

You won't get ANY shine.
It will not polish

Also it is porous, that is, moisture will seep through and generate rust from the underside.

Just do it in acryllic if your not fussy, but make sure you clear it.
