1st time user having trouble lowering glass on my xy fairmont wagons tailgate
does the key stop the glass from lowering when using the dash switch? any info on or where 2 get some info would be tops

Need a little more info! Can you operate the tailgate from outside with the key in the tailgate? To operate it from the switch in the car, you probably require either IGN or ACC on.

dont have a key but can attempt to lower while car running but glass seems to b stuck or jambed or locked by the top left corner it only goes down about 5mm

Try to find the source of the binding. Remove the covering panel inside the tailgate, and disconnect the regulator arms. The glass should then be able to be pushed down and the tailgate opened.

If the glass slides freely, the binding will be in the regulator assembly or the motor. I recommend removing the glass from the tailgate, then try to operate the switch to see if the regulator assembly moves freely. If it does, check the rollers for wear and correct lubrication.

If it still binds, remove the motor, check operation. If the motor turns in both directions ok, the regulator requires inspection, alignment and/or lubrication. Otherwise, either motor, wiring or switch is at fault. You can trace this by hooking the motor up directly to 12V to see how it goes.

cant get 2 the lower screws of the covering panel any ideas how to get it off without trashing it tried offset screwdriver the screws are to low can only get 2 top and side screws other than that thanks for the info

Sounds like one of the rollers has popped out, so you really need to get into the tailgate to disconnect it all and suss it out. Unfortunately, even if all the electrics are ok, this would stop it going down. Try to find another interior panel first before trashing the existing one. btw, can you get a cold chisel in there to (carefully) shear off the heads of the screws?
