4l into ea

i am thinking of swapping the 3.9 for a 4 litre out of a eb or ed.

has anyone got one with less than 200 000 k's and an ecu,no smartlock.

and the ability and equipment to change them over.

i'll only have a couple of hundred dollars.

i am in northern nsw 20 mins from the nsw qld border

Re: 4l into ea

G'day,
is your current setup MPFI or CFI??? if its CFI, buy a long motor and swap it, using your existing inlet manifold and CFI injection. I know of guys running these on 351's so it WILL supply!

How much in common does a CFI EA have with a 351 injection setup? The CFI setup is a big restriction on the EA's. This has nothing to do with the limitations of CFI, but the relatively poor manifold design compared to the MPEFI's in these engines. Converting a CFI engine to MPEFI is a bolt on 20kw with no other mods.

Re: 4l into ea

Sorry,
don't get me wrong. MPFI is so much better yes. I only hinted that way given that CFI is more common on EA's.

And as suggested its still a basic long motor job. I guess i was indicating that the 4.0 will run on CFI.

The later MPFI manifolds (EF/EL) are much better again...but will they fit under the hood of an EA-ED???

Re: 4l into ea

BBM's fit and are the best of the avaiailable intakes. Get an EF-AU and lock it in long runners (very similar then to the EA-ED manifold) and you really notice the difference.

If your happy with the log style MPEFI manifold and you have them then use them. Doesnt change the fact that the BBM is a better manifold design.
