Re: 4liter rev limiter

try an e-series edit, as well as all the various chips available (powerchip, chiptorque, unichip, etc), and aftermarket ECUs (wolf3d, EMS, motec, ms2, etc), there are many options out there for removing the factory rev limiter.

Cutting out at 5400rpm doesn't sound too good!

Re: 4liter rev limiter

yes i need to do it with out chips i need to use an original ecu its in a speedway car so im holding one gear and it runs out at 5400 but its not steady it really jerks and car gets untidy need to make injectors pulse or stay open in that revange but im running out of idears i need to beat those commodores and with more revs would nail them dead cheers

Re: 4liter rev limiter

MSN convo I had 5 mins ago:

Dave says:
oi robbo what was your hobo rev-limit remover?
Rob says:
i earthed the injectors
Dave says:
there's a speedway racer wanting to know how to get more than 5400rpm out of his EB 4.0 without resorting to chips/aftermarket ECUs
Rob says:
via a switch
Rob says:
not recomended
Dave says:
not even for speedway racing?
Rob says:
well
Dave says:
where he'll be constantly flat out?
Rob says:
you could do it
Rob says:
i'd assume the best way would be to earth them out via a rev switch set to the limiter
Rob says:
but i dunno how well it'd run
Rob says:
all it's doing is opening the injectors
Rob says:
100% duty ratio
Dave says:
so shouldn't it run normally then with the switch off?
Rob says:
it'll rev, but i doubt it'd make power
Rob says:
correct
Rob says:
switch off it runs as per normal
Rob says:
rev limiter just cuts the injectors
Dave says:
swich on at 5400rpm = sexytime for a wanting-to-rev-highly speedway-spec 4.0?
Rob says:
injectors are earthed through the ECU so i just created my own earth
Rob says:
maybe
Rob says:
it might make power
Rob says:
it might not
Rob says:
depends on the engine really
Dave says:
let's assume his 4.0 has been rebuilt to handle high RPMs
Dave says:
and that his head & cam are also to suit high RPMs
Rob says:
depends what his duty ratio is up high
Rob says:
if it's close to 100% it might work

Hope that helps?

Re: 4liter rev limiter

cheers for that so maybe a 2 part accerlarator pedal or a full throttle switch on pedal and with earthing the injectors i was thinking might need a diode inline just thinking it might spike the ecu will give it a go any other tips with the eec4 id like to hear about them
