hi ppl,
i know this may be a tired question so my apoligies if so. The question is about fitting au/ba rims to my ed, ive been told it cant be done but i have recently seen it in person and on ebay, im guessing they got spacers made or even someone sells em. Anyway just wondering if anyone here has done it and if so what was done to make it all happen especially the studs cos im not really a big fan of putting an extra 40mm studs in cos it couldnt be good for stregnth.
You're right it is not good for strength (although there are other ways), in any case it is questionable for legality and unlikely an insurance company would be happy with it (it is always good to actually have the cover you pay for). Best advice is to stick to wheels with the right offset.
Hi,
I've got 17" BA XR8 wheels fitted on my ED. A company gets them custom made and they are cheap as hell. I got mine brand new with new Michelin Nexen Silica compound tyres for only $1390. Ring this number if your in Melbourne (0408) 889939 and they do free delivery 7 days. You can also get BA XR6 and AU XR8 thru them.
Adam
cheers adrock,
just to clarify you got wheels, spacers and tyres all for that price if so that is a sweet bargain. I live in adelaide but if i could just get the spacers cheap and source the wheels here that would be good, ill give em a buzz
They would be a copy wheel with the right offset, you can get 17 & 18" versions of the BA 18" XR rims in both pre-AU and AU/BA offset (I know a bloke with 17" on a BA).
XM250 you can get copies through wheels direct, 17" wheels with tyres, fitted, balanced & delivered free from $1,000 to $1400 (they recently had rims and tyres for $960 - BA XR copies) & that is in the correct offset for E-series cars

Actually you CAN use AU/BA wheels on your Eseries.
You need a hub adapter which bolts to the hub which the wheel in turn bolts to.
Mine was plenty sturdy, and never had problems with snapping studs. If they do snap then its because youre using a cheapo spacer or long studs which are taking the weight when theyre not designed to.
