hello all,

I was driving my 97 El falcon futura today in the afternoon and as i was driving the car started to kick around abit, like the revs would go from 2-4-3-6-1-dead.

dead being car cuttting out..

then after about 10mins of letting it sit at the light with my flashing lights hoping no idiot would smash into it, i got it started again, so i took off.

then halfway down the road it started to kick around again with the revs but this time it didn't break down.

as bad of a description that is, does anybody know what it may/could be?

i would be thinking if the tacho is moving around it is the distribtor and the ten minute wait also suggest that you could replace the electronics of the dist but better off getting a new one.

alright, thanks ian...

would it hurt to replace/look @ the sparkies anyway?

then ill just take it to a mechanic because i have no idea about the dist or anything like that..

Could also have a check at any vacuum pipes / hoses for leaks and drawing air .
