confused Broken EF drivers seat

Hi,
Could anyone please tell me if I can use a different model fairmont seat in my EF.
The driver's seat is broken & I am having no luck finding a match from a wrecker that isn't ripped, wet or badly damaged in some way.
Any advice would be dearly appreciated :)

Re: Broken EF drivers seat

HI
All trim specs from EF and EL model Falcon seats are interchangeable, as are NF and NL (Fairlanes). So in theory, you can use any seat, not only from Fairmonts but also GLi, Futura or Fairlane. You can even use XRs but the shape and trims are a little different to other models. Is the trim or the metal frame that's broken?

Re: Broken EF drivers seat

Hi Marc,
Thanks for your help.
It's the metal frame that is broken, on the left hand side, the back rest part has come off the bottom seat part on one side. I currently have a big foam box wedging the seat in place but thats obviously not safe.
The mechanic has suggested welding it but I'm not sure how safe that is either.
Thanks again :)

Re: Broken EF drivers seat

Hi
Welding the frame is not only unsafe but also illegal. The combination of heat from welding and stress from use is going to crack it in time (or in an accident) right next to where the welding is. Your best bet is to get a seat that has a similar frame and swap your trims and paddings for the seat and backrest onto it. It's not hard at all.cheers
