Brought an EA sedan, now what?

Hey boys,

Coz of my ebay addiction, i have ended up with a crappy EA GL sedan in front of my house for $400. To keep me occupied on my days off, i fort i might bring her up to scratch (cheaply). Its a 89 EA GL sedan CFI 3 speed COLUMN shift!
This is whats wrong with it:

Ding on the left hand side rear door.
Leaking power steering unit.
Mega crack down the front windscreen.
Few small patches of rust in the usual places.
Very bad (rusty) brakes.
Dirty interior.
A few rattles in the rear.

Apart from the above, the car runs ok! No smoke out the exhaust and 3 speed is shifting ok. I plan to replace all this bad stuff myself, but am unsure about replacing the windscreen. If anyone can help me out on parts (cheapies) it would be appreciated! Is it worth the hassles?

Cheers

Brent

Re: Brought an EA sedan, now what?

I could proberly help out with a few of the smaller bits n peices I have found a little E Series goldmine for parts out here ....... wouldnt be that hard to get them to you I dont think.

The windscreen is a bit fiddly & you need patience but lets face it .... if I can change the one on my XF Wagon with only a 13yr old boys help you can too

Lets face it for what you paid for it when you get the few things fixed you could proberly make a couple of hundred bucks on what you paid & then put some more into the other car

Re: Brought an EA sedan, now what?

hmmm, interesting, wrecking it will definately make you money, but getting it up to scratch and selling it for say $1500-$2000, depending on final condition and the sucker willing to pay, would make probably alot more.

Re: Brought an EA sedan, now what?

its got 160K on the clock. grotty, dont know if its worth the hassles as your in syd. Most of the parts i need are either heavy or large so postage could be a problem. I dont really have the room to start wrecking the car (nor the time to pull everything out) so i will just fix her up.

Cheers guys

Brent
