Question Buying a Written Off EA

hey,

in the not too distant future i wanna rebuild and work a 3.9L mpfi and drop it into my EA and put a T5 in it at the same time.

i was thinking, it would probably be cheaper to got to an insurance auction and buy a written off EA that has a mpfi motor and a T5 tranny. Not only that but i would then have all the parts i would possibly need for the conversions plus a heap of other spares. Plus i have a mate that wants to build a stock car out of a EA so i could flog the shell off to him.

what do you guys think?

If its written off, the shell will be no good.
But yeah, it will be cheaper to get the complete car and convert yours from that - that's what I did.
Another idea is to look out for cheap 5-speed cars which still drive - maybe its rusty, or unlicenced, or the motor's knackered.....this can be good too.
