Catastrophy!!! Rollin stacks it!!! now needs help :S

i was on my way to an internet 'cafe' tonite (the one im sitting in writing this) and was going down a steepish hill behind 2 other cars, at about 40km/h or less, all of us braking to come to the T intersection at the bottom of the hill to turn left.

i looked right once and saw that nothing was coming, and looked to the front, noted that both cars had released their brakes and were going to proceeed around to the left, so i released mine as i looked to the right again to make sure nothing was coming.

there was a car coming, from the right but it was about 60m away and travelling slowly (it eventually turned left- back the way we had come - but without indicating) so i didnt put my brakes on as i looked back to the front, as i was planning to continue around the corner under kinetic energy. at this stage i was only doing about 15km/h i reckon, and my passenger brother agrees.

it turns out that the car in front of me (an old white corolla) had decided to wait for the other car, so he hit the brakes and stopped just as i looked back to the front, expecting to see clear road ahead...but there wasnt.

i hit him at about 15km/h (only just hit the brakes as we hit him, we were very close togather by the time i looked back to the front...FCUK!!!!

no damage to his car, and no injuries to anyone, so we didnt even bother exchanging details, but i need some parts, can anyone give me a hand? i would rather give money to a forum member than the wreckers!!!

im after:

1X EB Bonnet
1X stock front bar with the fiberglass bit behind it, (the grey bit at the top needs to be in good nick)
1X LHF headlight
1X LHF clear front indicator
1X EL thermofan motor (shroud and blades are ok, i just want the motor)

and i think thats it, the radiator support panel is pushed back enough so that the bolts on the water pump ground the drivers side fan motor to bits on the drive home, so that needs to be stretched out again :S

GODDAMMIT! im p!ssed at a few things, one, that i misread what the other cars were doing (which was the primary cause of the accident) two, that the other guy was so damn cautious he had to wait for a car that was so far away i would have had time to pull out in a semi, and three, that the other car didnt have an indicator on to turn, so the car in front of me stopped un-necessarily and in a hurry, causing me to drill him...

Re: Catastrophy!!! Rollin stacks it!!! now needs help :S

I almost did exactly the same thing the other night, only i had 1 car in front of me at a T intersection who had decided to stay for a car that was miles away, and i hadnt realised as i was looking left also, if it wasnt for my mate, who for some reason was sitting in the center of the back seat who told me to stop, i would of hit the guy at around 15km/h, anywayz hope u find the parts u need.

Re: Catastrophy!!! Rollin stacks it!!! now needs help :S

Mate - sounds like the same damage I did to my EB s-pack last weekend. I hit the car in front doing only about 15 kmh and the radiator support panel is pushed back, headlights and bumpers smashed up, and the bonnet is stuffed. (they dont seem to make the front end real strong do they). I got a few quotes from smash repair places to get it fixed up and they ranges from $4200 using new parts to $2700 using parts from wreckers. I think there is about $1000 labour to remove all the bits and straighten out the support panel so that all the new bits point in the right direction. Then you have to paint up all the new bits to make every thing pretty again....... I went the cheaper option of buying a Std GLi (about $2000) and are changing all the good bits over - then the plan is to sell the smashed car to a wrecker and get a couple of hundred bucks back.

Re: Catastrophy!!! Rollin stacks it!!! now needs help :S

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you..... I'll have to admit that I was a bit shocked about how much it was. I considered tying the front of the car to a solid tree and backing up untill the front radiator support was the right shape - but thats just a bit dodgy :err:

Re: Catastrophy!!! Rollin stacks it!!! now needs help :S

when i had to replace my front bar on the eb it cost about $140 from the wreckers i did it my self (those wrecker guys are dodgy and expensive for labour, im not saying all are though!) just look around a wrecker yards and do it all yourself! you get more satifaction doing it yourself anyway, sorry to hear about your acc though sounds like you controlled yourself wee had of been me i would have gone ape shit at the guy.

anyway hope you have lots of luck wit it all
