confused Did I do this to my '95 EF ??

Alryt, kinda new to this whole car thing. But I'll get there! (19 yr old chick - have no about zoom zoom)

I've got some questions about my EF. Sorry if they've been asked somewhere else before - but I'm new to thie Ford Forums thing too!! Anything you could possibly answer would be of GREAT help and i woule be MUCHLY appreciated!!

Okie, firstly... It's a 95 EFseries 2 and it's done 239,800 (there abouts) km's.

Should I be worried about it having that many km's? Or is that average?

I've noticed that my cars "rpm" is to high for it's KM's...

For example, I'll be going 40-50km's and I look at my RPM and it's already just past 3000 !!! That's not normal is it?? How can that be fixed?! It freaks me the f**k out!!!

This morning, my car got to 40 km's and wouldn't go any further, it just stayed at 40 km's no matter HOW hard i pressed my foor or antyhing.. It EVENTUALLY (after about 5 minutes driving 40 km's) got to 55km's but that was it - it refused to go any faster.... I got told that it's running 4-5 Cylinders ALTHOUGH it's a 6 Cylinder car.. How the f**k does that work?? Did I make that happen? How? I wanna know - so that after I get it fixed - I will know NOT to do it again!! Also - is it possible for me to fix? Like could it be the Spark Plugs or what ?

Cheers guys

Re: Did I do this to my '95 EF ??

The RPMs will be due to what gear your car is in 4th gear at 100kph should be around 1800rpm, however if you were in 1st you'd be blowing the motor up at over 6300rpm (let's ignore the fact it has a cutout).

The car goes through the gears, kind of like a mountain bike (when you go uphill, you change to an easier gear. When you take off from a standing start, you tend to do it in an easy gear and then change gears when you pick up speed).

Having it run on less than 6 cylinders sounds like it's time to take it to a mechanics to get checked out. As you've suggested, it may be due to a spark plug (or plugs), or a blocked injector, or something else. If you take it to a mechanics, ask them to check it out for you and tell you what they believe is wrong with it, DON'T take it somewhere and say "there's something wrong, fix it" because you might get your car back with 99% new parts on it and a $2000 bill

Hi
About your car, it's not really important how many km it has travelled, what matters is if it's been looked after properly or not. I've seen many of these cars (as taxis) that have gone around the clock once, meaning more than 999 999 km, so, as long as you look after it, it'll just keep on going. I've got one of these (EF II XR6) with 185 000 km, and other than the head gasket i've never had any major dramas with it.
The term "running on 4-5 cylinders" is used by people to indicate a misfire (missing spark/fuel/compression) and this could be described also as the car is not smooth when accelerating, it shakes, vibrates, jerks, and so on. On your post, there's nothing to indicate a misfire, rather, you say the car revs fine but doesn't move, or at least the way I read it is the rpm doesn't correspond to the road speed. That's usually an indication of a gearbox that's slipping or that has gone into limp mode, which could also be the cause of the harsh gear changes. If this description is accurate, take it to an auto specialist and drive the car with him and ask for his opinion. worst case scenario you'll need a reco or 2nd hand box.
cheers
Marc
