Re: EA electronic timing reset

Is it a MPEFI and if so did he use the thick MPEFI inlet gasket with the cutouts for the injectors rather than the thinner CFI gaskets often packaged with the gasket set?

Your statements

are inconsistent; what do you mean?

Re: EA electronic timing reset

Thanks for your quick reply!!
It is an MPEFI, and he only used the standard gaskets that came with the set. He said everything is firing, it is just the resetting of the computer that he's not sure of. Do you turn ign on,then lights and pump brake, then turn off lights and ign? Have heard a few different things to do, but just not sure which is right.

Re: EA electronic timing reset

To reset the computer, disconnect the battery for at least an hour and pump the brakes to remove any residual. Then reconnect the battery and do the following sequence:
Idle in drive with air con on for 2 mins;
Idle in drive with air con off for 2 mins;
Idle in neutral with air con on for 2 mins;
Idle in neutral with air con off for 2 mins;
Drive the car under various conditions.
