EA indicators

hi the front light indicator on my 88 EA stopped working and the back right was flashing fast, we replaced the front bulb but it still didnt work. we then cleaned out the power connectection point for trailers as this had filled up with dirt and we assumed it was shorting- this fixed the fast flashing in the back light but the front still didnt work. so then we took out the left front bulb and put it in the right side- didnt work and now the left front doesnt work! whats going on with my indicators!?

Re: EA indicators

G'day.

The flasher goes faster when a globe blows on the blinkers yoiu're trying to use. It's a way of letting you know that something is wrong.

If the RHF is the one not working, you must investigate that fixture and find out why it does not work. Very unlikely that the trailer connector in causing your trouble. Check it out to see if you have pulsing 12v at the lamp holder when the blinker is on, and check to see that it is properly earthed. If it isn't, you won't have a return circuit and therefore no blinkers. Road crud and dirt can make for bad connections and poor earths.

Have you tried the RHS globe in the LHS to see if the globe is OK?

Re: EA indicators

Hi Guys, I have a variation on this - my EA indicates to the right fine, but if I indicate to the left it works until i brake, then the indicator almost stops. The second I take my foot off the brake it's back to normal. Worse then that, it goes like that most, but not all the time. Occasionally it works properly!
Is it in the can?
