I have central locking in my car

Can you get a smart lock touch pad and use it with the central locking, and if yes, what parts would I need?

Also I have been told that there is a seperate Ec unit running the climate control on these models and that they are prone to failure, is this correct??, cos my heaters dont work as good as I would expect

I am not sure about the C/C heater failure issues, but sometimes the heater box (?) gets clogged up with leaves & dirt. I'm not familiar at all with the workings of the ventilation system unfortunately.

Sounds like you have a Series 1 EB if you don't have Smartlock. My EB came with some sort of car alarm, but I have no idea what brand it is. I'll take some pictures of it if you like (not that they'd really help at all). I'm not sure about swapping your ECU for one that supports Smartlock, perhaps you could ask this question on the Fordmods forum?
