confused eb problem...help

latley my eb2 5 speed has been doin some weird shite!!
it will only happen every now and then but when ill be cruisen along at idle speed and all of a sudden it will start hopingn and shuttering like crazy i then either put the clutch in and let it back out and it stops or flatten it and it might lag for a bit then take off smooth again. had a few people look at it put no joy. the motor seems good i have been told it could be the uni joints in the tail shaft but i dunno.
any ideas would be much appreciated
cheers n avagood1
