ED 4.0Lt turbo ECU query...
I've just recently bought myself and ED Fairmont with the intension of turbocharging it.
I'll be using the old turbo [TO4 (.6-Vtrim, 1.15 Ptrim)] and intercooler[2 s4 coolers welded together] off my rota, which from what I've read and seen should do the job reasonably well running my intended max boost pressure of 6psi.
I've done much searching on this forum and elsewhere online to only find conflicting answers to my question. Which is, will the standard ECU, pump and injectors be able to take 6psi?
If not will I be able to get away with a decent pump and a rising rate reg? Or is there simply no easy way out without running an aftermarket ECU?
On a side note, I was going through my old ZOOM magazines reading up on the workhorse wakeup project they covered. In one of the articles they showed a small pcb attached to the side of the EEC-IV which apparently allowed them to retune it. Does anybody know what this was and where any more info could be found about it?
PS: I'll be doing this conversion regardless of ECU issues, the way I see it is at worst I should be able to buy an old Microtech fuel only comp to run aux injectors anyway.....
