I was changing the rear brake pads today on my ED Falcon and I have been unable to fit the new pads, because I can't push the piston back in...

Anybody have any ideas why this is happening?

similar thing happened with my eb, i put it in to get the rear brake pads changed but they came accross a problem my calipers froze or something like that and i had to get new ones which made it more expensive in the end but apparently it happens as the car ages. i hoped i helped!

Are you using the correct tool? There is a rear caliper installation tool used in conjunction with a a square ratchet driver. I bought an ABW branded one for around $50 a few years back.

If you are using the tool and still not getting anywhere its time to rebuild the brakes. Parts shouldn't be too much, new rubber boot for the piston and a few seals. Also a couple types of grease, metho and brake fluid. The factory service manual has quite detailed instructions on the procedure.
