How many would be left now?
What is low mileage for a sprint?
What is a sprint worth?
Is there a register anywhere of how many still exist, wouldn't need names or anything so that owners could remain anonymous, just interested to know how many are still out there in sheds, carports or on the road where they belong.......
There is no register for them.
Low Ks for a sprint is under 100,000km.
average is 160,000-200,000km.
Tere are a few for sale around the traps. at least 1 on ebay.
Prices range from $10K to $17K

In one of your threads you mention contacting FPV, how do i do that?
Thanks.
Very helpful bdennis anyone else got any sprint info?
Any snippets or links would be appreciated. Would really be interested if anyone with an unmolested car could give me any info on the exahust system.
Detroit,
What info do you need re the exhaust?
The come factory with extractors (very limiting though 4 to 1) and then cats, then twin system down (twin muflers) to the diff and the passenger side pipe makes a turn and joins the right pipe at the top of the diff then a mufler and then out the back. There is some heat soaking silver stuff above the diff on the body to stop the heat of the exhaust heating the body. I have a workshop manual and can copy the exhaust pics if needed. Mine still has the extractors and cats then was changed and goes to a single system after the 2 muflers before the diff. So mine is not factory.

Just wondering because exhaust seems to be the first thing people play with and If looking for an original car then exhaust change would be probably expected and maybe even acceptable. Since I became more interested, I have seen two sprints recently out in the road, a red one and a poly green one, they are such an understated performance car, i love the concept, real sleeper. Which Club would be the most active with sprint membership, I am in Victoria.
Dumb Question...
does the sprint actually have extractors....every V8 E series i have seen has had Headers (VERY similar to extractors), and have never seen one with cast manifolds.
Even on un-molested cars....have been repairing them since release.
One thing i do know about sprints is that the rear supsension geometry is different to other falcons.....having repaired one on the bench and finding the measurements were wrong.

There is a good article in Australian Muscle Car Issue 10 regarding the sprints and what made them special. From what I have read the sprints did have a nice set of pipes, weather you call them extractors or headers is unimportant, as your comment that you have never seen them with cast iron manifolds is correct.
With regards to rear geometry....."each sprint had its rear axle top arm mounting points re-drilled and new arms fitted at Tickford along with GT springs, dampers and nolathane control and anti-roll bushes."
So they were different. Thanks for your input.
Did you ever get to drive one after you repaired it?
Thanks Jas
